Voice biometrics
Recognizing or verifying a person from the unique characteristics of their voice.
Voice biometrics is the practice of identifying or verifying a person from the distinctive characteristics of their voice. A system converts a sample of speech into a mathematical representation, a voiceprint, and compares it against stored voiceprints to confirm an identity or find a match.
In call centers, voice biometrics is used to authenticate callers, recognize returning customers across different phone numbers, and flag suspicious or synthetic voices. Unlike a password or PIN, the voice itself is the credential, which removes a step for the caller while adding a layer of fraud resistance.
